China’s Foreign Ministry said that China and the United States should show mutual respect, coexist peacefully, and seek cooperation and mutual gain.
At the daily press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian evaluated the claim of US President Joe Biden in his speech at the UN General Assembly yesterday that the US does not intend to start a conflict and a Cold War with China.
Pointing out that the continuity and stability of China’s policies towards the United States have always been preserved, Zhao said that the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, cooperation and mutual gain that President Xi Jinping put forward in order to develop relations with the United States should be considered as the only basis for Sino-US relations. He noted that it is not the accumulation of experience in its 50-year history, but also the basic principles to be followed in the next development.
Pointing out that US President Joe Biden has made many commitments that he does not intend to start a conflict and a Cold War with China many times, Zhao said to Washington by fulfilling the commitment of the US leader, to approach relations with China with the right attitude, to approach Taiwan in accordance with the Three Joint Declarations between the two countries. He called for a proper resolution of the problem, preserving the political basis of bilateral relations.
Zhao stated that they wish the USA to work together with China to find a way for the two great countries with different social systems, histories and cultures to live together in peace, cooperation and mutual gain.
