TIMBIR Board Meets in Ankara for 3rd Anniversary

The Turkish Internet Media Union (TIMBIR), established by Presidential Decree, held its board meeting in Ankara to mark the organization’s 3rd anniversary.

The meeting, chaired by TIMBIR President Süleyman Basa, focused on key issues related to the development of digital media and the institutionalization of internet journalism in Türkiye.

During the meeting in Ankara, board members discussed in detail the digital projects carried out under TIMBIR, initiatives aimed at strengthening online journalism, membership processes, and the organization’s institutional structure. Members exchanged views on the steps that should be taken to further strengthen internet media at a time when digital journalism is rapidly expanding.

Plans for 2026 were also on the agenda, including upcoming projects, media training programs, and efforts to improve professional standards in internet journalism. The union’s leadership emphasized the importance of developing joint projects to ensure that digital media organizations are represented more effectively both in Türkiye and internationally.

It was learned that TIMBIR Vice President Adil Koçalan, one of the experienced figures in the media sector, was unable to attend the meeting due to being abroad.

In a statement, Koçalan said:

“I was unable to attend the meeting due to being abroad. However, I closely follow the activities of our union and the work carried out in the field of digital publishing and internet media. I hope our union will continue to maintain a strong presence for the benefit of our profession.”

Having made significant contributions to the institutionalization of internet media in just three years, TIMBIR is expected to undertake even more active projects both in Türkiye and on international platforms in the coming period.
